Hi, my name is Anthony, within this page I hope to help you in your quest to buying the perfect football boot. I have over 15 years experience as a seller and player.

I have had training by all the, well at least most football boot manufacturing companies and have favorites but they are my own personal ones and will not affect my advice (I hope!).

So just the facts on what they are.

Intro.

There are so many types of boots these days it’s hard to choice a make let alone style, so heres my guide to football boots which should hopefully help you choice style make and model!

SIZES.

Please take into consideration that some people wear 2 pairs of socks with Boots.

The reason behind this is to let the inner sock take the friction of the outer sock whilst rubbing against the boot, this Idea really works well, I personally use a thinner tighter pair as the inner sock and the a football sock as the outer, this also help with comfort on hard ground playing surfaces.

The First thing many people will notice is the size difference between not only styles but makes of football boot, take Nike for example, they usually have the perfect length but are slightly wider than what we would call standard size, adidas tend to come up a little shorter in length but the width is what we would class as standard size, umbro I have found to be equal in size so say an average in length and width as to are Puma, Lotto, Jota and A-line.

I have recently tried and tested the New Nomis Wet control football boot, the sizes here are perfect in length and width for a football boot. MORE TO COME

The Hard ground Boot V The soft Ground Boot!

BUYING ON A BUDGET OR DONT CARE WHAT THEY COST?.

1.Buget

Now this is one of the most Difficult choices to make if you are on a budget so ill start here with, non league just for fun players, and don’t worry this is by means no means any different to being say, a pro footballer, players still have the same commitment and passion at any level, but not the wages!

It was always a difficult Choice for me whether to have hard ground or soft ground boots when I was younger as my mother could only afford one pair. I used to have the dilemma of following the trend as well, which didn’t help! as much as I can remember, their wasn’t actually that many to choice from, not like now were there are hundreds! I think the leading boot then was Puma with the Puma King, Asics,Patric, Adidas world Cup, and Hitec were about it, so It wasn’t as hard a choice as it is now but still hard.

The first pair I had were Hitec with plastic Studs (6) for soft ground. I never bought soft ground boots again after this until I was able to afford to buy my own! the blisters I got from wearing these on hard ground were just unbearable! to wear them the other way round (firm ground on soft)is not as big a problem you may slip over a couple of times in very muddy conditions but at least you do not get any blisters!

So for Me Hard Ground Win hands down in this department!

By the way Since then wide rubber stud have been created for the soft ground boot, so you world remove the soft ground studs and replace these flatter wider rubber stud which act like hard ground studs.

BE WARNED.....you really need to take care of your boots if you are going to use this option, as studs can become fixed to the boot or ruin the screw-in if you do not take care! So, you don’t have to follow my advice, especially if you have a teen who wishes to have a specific boot and it very stubborn!

2.MIDRANGE

When I could afford my own boots the choice had became a lot more difficult, I also worked at a sports retailer at the time so met all the reps and all their boots were better than each others according to them, armed with all the information I still could not decide so it was a case of trial and error! but at least I got a good discount! the boot I used For Soft Ground was The Lotto Pro Multi Stud Great Quality and didn’t hold as much mud in the studs as others I had tried.

The hard Ground boots were a different matter I was lucky I found the perfect boot Straight away in the Umbro Elite, what a boot that was! Alas they do not make this boot any more so In my search I tried A couple and Found a new Love of my football life in the Adidas Copa Mundial, at this time It had come down in price and was affordable and what a bargain I got there! I still used them now!

3.TOP OF THE RANGE

for my soft ground boots I tried a lot over the years and I think that I have had a few favorites, the one that stands out as the best boot I have ever used was the Adidas predator (feet you wear)unfortunately they moved on and on till in my opinion they have become poor and a gimmick, the other pair were mizuno pro, but they needed some serious looking after and fell to bits after half a season.

And Last but not least Hard Ground Top of the range Boot, Well there are 2, One which I have mention before the Adidas Copa Mundial as the standard of this boot (albeit now a mid range price) is World Class!

The other Is the Nomis Wet/dry Control Boots which I use if the ground is hard, so both of which had been A great boot for me so far and long my I continue playing in them!!

Important Information!

This is by far one of the most important bit of information I can give you, the leather or synthetic boots are very different and need to be treated as such, leather has come a long way in the boots trade but there are still some golden oldies out their like Umbro Special, Puma King and Adidas World Cup, they are made out of soft leather and need to be treated with love an affection after every game, A good tip (from back in the day) is when they are new put a couple of pairs of footy socks on, then your boots, and jump in a nice warm bath!! this would make the leather, which shrinks the first time you get them wet, mould to the shape of you foot, they can then dry this way and they are perfect, be warned though, they do stretch a little as they get older which is why pro footballers change their boors every season. Alan Shearer used to get a size smaller for match days! George Boateng trains in Adidas through the week but plays in Nike! so everyone has there preferences. now the synthetic boots are the ones for us lazy bones!! what You buy is what you get! they don’t shrink and they don’t stretch! easy to clean and last a bit longer.
